The Central Market also known as Phsar Thmei in Khmer was built in 1937 during the french colonial period and is one of the major landmarks in Phnom Penh .
This stunning ochre coloured Art Deco Style building was designed by a french architect Louis Chauchon. It consists of four wings dominated by a central dorm. Each of these wings have countless stalls offering a wide variety of goods: Jewellery, shoes, bags, clothes, souvenirs, food stuff, antiques, electronics, accessories, you name it, they got it !
Being a tourist hotspot, prices are a tad high compared to other markets like Russian and Orussey so you really have work on your bargain game.
Tuktuk, motors and taxi drivers are familiar with the central market so getting there should be totally hustle free.
