EXPAT IN THE PHILIPPINES | THINGS TO DO IN TAGAYTAY.

psx_20170107_101216Tagaytay is a city in the province of Cavite, and thanks to its propinquity to Manila, the destination makes for a convenient city escape whenever a need to unwind arises. Tagaytay’s cooler temperatures and rich vegetation are perhaps my two favorite things about the city that brings back life to even the most wilted soul.

For those planning to visit Tagaytay for the first time, here are a few things to do!

1.Marvel at the beauty of Taal lake
Lake Taal is a lake within an island within a lake, and also one of the world’s smallest and active volcanoes. For a bird’s-eye view of the caldera, hike to the rim of the crater. The hike up should take you approximately 30-45minutes. For those not feeling adventurous, swing by Taal Vista hotel. The hotel offers one of the best vantage points of the lake.

2.Have fun at Sky Ranch theme park
Sky ranch is an amusement park with exciting activities for both kids and kids at heart. For beautiful views of Taal lake and its surrounding ridges, ride the “Sky Eye’’ ferris wheel. The ferris wheel is a towering 207 square feet of adrenaline-pumped fun. Give it a try! As a side note, the park is one of the top attractions in Tagaytay for both tourists and locals, therefore come prepared for long lines of people looking for their own slice of fun.

3.Eat at Tagaytay finest restaurant, Antonio’spsx_20170108_173342

4.Staycation at Overlooking Tagaytay Chalet
Kick back and relax at Overlooking Tagaytay Chalet. The chalet stands as pretty as a painting amidst the thickest of nature lending a spectacular view of lake Taal and volcano.

5.Relax and get pampered at Qiwellness Living
Immediately you walk into Qiwellness Living, a sense of serenity sweeps over you. Enjoy a cup of tea from their teahouse, sit back and let your mind wander as you take in the view of the volcano.psx_20170108_162826psx_20170108_162931For a more unique and intimate experience go for their overnight escape package which includes:

    • Welcome cocktails
    • Use of our Yin Yang (cold & hot) hydrotherapy dipping pools
    • 30 minute foot reflexology by the bathhouse
    • 90 minute Silk signature massage in the opium den
    • Overnight accommodation in a private room equipped with your own steam generator and rainshower
    • Chinese-inspired congee and dimsum breakfast

6.Visit Ilog Maria bee farm
If you are all about organic stuff, make a point to swing by IIog Maria bee farm.

The place is a little-out-of-the-way but worth a visit. Here, you will find all-natural products made using regionally sourced materials. I love their beauty and skin care range of products made from virgin honey.

7.Interact with farm animals at Paradizoo
At Paradizoo, children learn about farm animals through supervised interaction with them. Paradizoo features the usual suspects such as cows, chicken, donkeys, goats, sheep as well as the not so usual like camels and ostriches. The best part is that your little one can assist with feeding time!
