Art fair Philippines is the most anticipated art event in the country. The fair took place from February 22 to 24 at The Link, Parkway Drive, Ayala Center, Makati City. As expected, the venue was crawling with art enthusiasts.
Last year I attended my first Art Fair PH. It was a pleasant experience on so many levels, especially as it was my first time to attend such a big art event. It was exciting to discover and learn about different local and international artists. Read about it HERE. This year marked the event’s seventh run. I was eager to see what was in store for us, and I was not disappointed.
The artwork took on various forms such as—sculptures, installations, paintings and photographs. Here are a few that I found sublime.
LIBRARY OF WOOD | LING QUISUMBING RAMILO
“FAT” FIGURES | FERNANDO BOTERO
CHEAP MEDICINE | OSCAR VILLAMIEL
EVERYTHING, EVERYWHERE, EVERYONE | OLIVIA D’ABOVILLE
PHOTOGRAMS | NEAL OSHIMA
It was refreshing to see new galleries exhibit work by different artists across South East Asia. I also became acquainted with local Filipino artists who continue to contribute to the local art scene through old and new projects.
As I go through these photos I can’t help but already look forward to Art Fair Philippines 2020.
