YOGA | LESSONS WE CAN LEARN FROM A BUTTERFLY.

Two days ago we spent the day in Moretti, a small locality in Piedmont region, Italy. I accompanied my husband to visit his uncle. Our stay was short but reminded me the beauty of countryside living. Nature. The simple life. Slowing down. Waking up to the sounds of birds singing. Farm to table eating. Clean air. The abundance in what might seem like nothingness.

The sight of butterflies gently yet gracefully flapping their beautiful wings, hopping from one flower to the other reminded me five things:

An end to something at times leads to beautiful new beginnings. Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly.

One can either be a caterpillar or a butterfly, You can not be both.

Change can be beautiful.

You have to be a caterpillar before you are a butterfly. Problem is, most people aren’t willing to be a caterpillar. We should honor our journeys. Our cycle of lives. Embrace each circumstance whether positive or negative as an opportunity for transformation.

The butterfly said to the sun, “They can’t stop talking about my transformation. I can only do it once in my lifetime. If only they knew, they can do it at any time and countless ways. ” -Dodinsky
