Over the holiday season, the boys and I spent 10 fabulous days at Nexus Resort and Spa Karambunai, Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. We were all looking forward to this much-needed break so much- that for the first three days we barely left the hotel.

KK waterfront is one of the main attractions of Kota Kinabalu. It is the go-to place for anyone looking for a vibrant nightlife scene, or simply wanting to recharge after a long day of sightseeing. There are a variety of food outlets and bars dotting this picturesque water strip overlooking the China Sea. 



Our favorite restaurant was Mai Yao Thai Orchid. Eating Thai food in Malaysia? Why not? Their dishes are scrumptious. We came back the next day for another taste of this little food heaven. If you happen to be in the neighborhood, please try their sizzling seafood stir fry paired with delectable pineapple fried rice that is served in a carved pineapple. 
KK waterfront is also the spot to relax and take in magical sunsets. It is beautiful chaos as everyone tries to capture the perfect sunset selfie with their loved ones. Restaurants and bars get super busy around this time too. This makes getting a good table an almost impossible feat. If you have a larger party, or you are planning a special evening, I suggest arriving early.
Despite never getting front row tables next to the waters, the boys and I still had a great time. Good food, good ambiance, good vibes, music playing in the background, laughter in the air, a few glasses of vino while watching the sunset. We loved Coming back to KK waterfront every other evening during our vacation. It always felt like being wrapped
