EMBRACING VULNERABILITY.

A few days ago I started reading Rising Strong by the phenomenal Brené Brown. In the first chapter she talks about The physics of vulnerability. For someone like me who has always been struggling with vulnerability from childhood through adulthood finding this book was like hitting a jackpot. I am having a lot of Aha moments as I turn its pages. It is a great book and highly recommend it.

Reading it has given me the courage to open up, share my story and most importantly embrace vulnerability. I also reached out to a few dear friends to contribute and I am beyond grateful that two of them agreed. Reading their personal experiences makes me happy and less alone in this field.

Dear Dianne and Beau. Thank you so much for sharing your stories. Thank you for simply being you. I love you. x Read more

SUN SALUTATIONS AND MANTRAS.

Yoga can be fun. Yoga can be fast. Yoga can be slow. Yoga can be playful. Yoga can be spiritual. Yoga can be calming. Yoga can fire up deep emotions. Yoga can be healing. Yoga can be different things each time you step on the mat. Yoga is not a one size fits. For other people Yoga can be the complete opposite of all the things I have mentioned above.  Read more

LESSONS WE CAN LEARN FROM A BUTTERFLY.

Two days ago we spent the day in Moretti, a small locality in Piedmont region, Italy. I accompanied my husband to visit his uncle. Our stay was short but reminded me the beauty of countryside living. The more I practice and venture into the different aspects of yoga, the more I find myself relating to these powerful words by The Bhagavad Gita.

“Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.”

IN STILLNESS.

20180502_123822.jpgI remember my very first yoga class. It was in Colombo, Sri Lanka, nine years ago, with my good friend Haissa. I can’t recall what prompted us to join the class but yes, one morning, we found ourselves looking at our toes, bum up, fingers wide spread, navel to spine, doing our very first downward facing dog at a local Hatha Yoga Institute.
