”Affogato”, an Italian word that basically means ”drowned” is an Italian coffee-based dessert. It usually takes the form of a scoop of vanilla or fior di latte gelato or ice cream topped or “drowned” with a shot of hot espresso.
This easy and delicious combination can be prepared at home, but as an excuse to get out of the house on weekends, the boys and I love walking over to Cartel Deli on Leviste street and treating ourselves to their generous scoops of gelato. By far one of the best we have tried in Metro Manila. 
Affogato is also my go-to no brainer dessert when hosting dinners. My guests always seem to love the idea of drowning ice cream in coffee.
